Paragon Sunderland heightens plant security

Paragon have recently introduced new levels of site security, ensuring that we continue to meet and exceed the standards required of APACS (Association of Payment Clearing Services) and increasing the protection we guarantee for customers requiring cheques and any other form of security print.

As a major manufacturer of cheques in the UK, Paragon have been quick to meet new regulations set out by the Cheque Printer Accreditation Scheme (CPAS). CPAS was introduced by APACS with the aim of tackling fraud involving company cheques. The latest measures ensure that all cheques for use in the UK clearing are now produced by accredited printers who have adopted stringent security standards.

The latest security features at the Paragon plant include a new manned access system with security barriers, allowing for controlled entry on to the premises, a security fence spanning the whole site, ID cards for all staff and the installation of a high-tech CCTV system. The new security features are in addition to the comprehensive system already in place at Sunderland, which includes a restricted access security printing area and a caged off storage area in the warehouse.

Says Iain Black, UK General Manager “These new improvements illustrate Paragon’s commitment to delivering the best services, whilst ensuring compliance with customers’ security arrangements and the reliability of staff and premises. It is vitally important that we continue to meet all APACS recommendations, continuing to deliver the highest quality security print solutions.”
